Heidi Hautala, previously the minister for international development and state ownership steering in Finland in 2011-2013, is working her third legislature as member of the European Parliament in the Greens/EFA group.
In addition to being a vice-president in her group, she seats in the development, budget and legal affairs committees. She is also the co-president of the Euronest parliamentary assembly and the co-chair of the European Parliament working group on reproductive health HIV/AIDS and development.
She has complemented her extensive political career at national and European level with other professional activities , including journalism, founding of a restaurant and the Finnish Green League, and combined it with her various voluntary work commitments related mostly to human rights.
